This is the youngest section of the Croatian Botanical Society, established at the end of 2024. A small number of experts in mosses and lichens work in Croatia, and the section’s goal is to connect domestic researchers with each other and with colleagues from other countries. In recent years, there has been a revived interest in working with these groups, creating a need for systematic action. Prior to the formation of the section, members participated in numerous bryological and lichenological excursions, and in February 2024, they organized an international excursion to Lo\u0161inj, Cres, and Susak for 54 participants from 9 countries, with the aim of gathering data on these poorly researched areas.<\/p>\n
The section’s goal is also to motivate future experts and amateurs to engage with these groups through various workshops, lectures, field trips, and inventory projects.<\/p>\n
Section members manage national moss and lichen databases, which are integrated into the Flora Croatica Database (FCD).<\/p>\n
