 Excursion

A post-congress excursion was organized to the Kopački rit Nature Park, the most famous wetland area in Croatia. It is located in the floodplain between the Danube and Drava rivers. Due to its exceptional biodiversity and great ecological value, it has been protected since 1967, and it was declared a nature park in 1999. Its international significance was confirmed by its inclusion on the Ramsar list in 1992, and from 2021 it belongs to UNESCO’s five-country cross-border biosphere reserve “Mura-Drava-Danube”. Research so far has recorded 576 taxa in the flora of the Kopački rit Nature Park, among which 36 are rare and endangered taxa.

The excursion includes visiting Kopački rit, a ride on a tourist boat and a tour of the Tikveš Presentation and Education Centre, where visitors can learn about the ecological features, flora, fauna and historical events in the area of ​​Kopački rit, along with multimedia interactive content. The tour is followed by a drive to the Batina settlement with a panoramic view of the Danube bank and lunch with a visit to the wine cellar in the Zmajevac settlement.

tour of the presentation and education center and the Tikveš castle complex

tour and lunch at the Gerštmajer winery in Zmajevac
